World-Trade-Organization<\/a><\/h1>

The World-Trade-Organization<\/a> (WTO) is the primary international body responsible for regulating and facilitating international trade between nations. Officially established on January 1, 1995, following the Marrakesh-Agreement<\/a>, it serves as the successor to the General-Agreement-on-Tariffs-and-Trade<\/a> (GATT). The organization is headquartered in Geneva<\/a>, Switzerland<\/a>, and provides a framework for negotiating trade agreements and a dispute resolution process.<\/p>

The core mission of the World-Trade-Organization<\/a> is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably, and freely as possible. This is achieved through the reduction of Tariffs<\/a>, Quotas<\/a>, and other Trade-Barriers<\/a>. According to the official WTO website<\/a>, the organization represents more than 98% of total world trade and global Gross-Domestic-Product<\/a>.<\/p>

The current Director-General of the World-Trade-Organization<\/a> is Ngozi-Okonjo-Iweala<\/a>. Under her leadership, the organization continues to address modern economic issues such as digital commerce, intellectual property, and sustainable development. The WTO works in tandem with other global institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund<\/a>, to maintain stability in the global financial system. The Dispute-Settlement-Body<\/a> remains a critical component for enforcing the rules agreed upon by member states during the Uruguay-Round<\/a>.<\/p>
